OPPO says ‘has filed’ as many as 57,000 patent applications
OPPO announced that the Company had filed as many as 57,000 patent applications as at December 31, 2020. OPPO already possesses over 24,000 granted patents globally. Out of all the applications, about 89% or 51,000 were utility patents and in 2019 OPPO ranked among Top 5 filers according to World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
According to a report by NGB, one of Japan’s leading research institutes, OPPO is among the top ten Organizations in the world in terms of highest number of 5G families declared in 2020. OPPO filed over 3600 families of global patent applications, declared over 1400 families of 5G standard patents to the European Telecommunication Standard Institute (ETSI) and submitted more than 3000 5G standard related proposals to the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) during the year.
In addition, OPPO has filed over 2400 global patent application related to AI, Computer Vision, Speech Technology & Machine Learning. In terms of Imaging, OPPO has launched over 7700 image patents worldwide and owns over 2600 granted patents which is a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation.
