Operation Yukthiya nets 49,558 suspects for drug-related offences

The police conducting a countrywide anti- crime operation, Yukthiya, had arrested 56,541 suspects in 50 days, the Ministry of Public Security announced on Tuesday (06).

The operation commenced on 17 Dec. 2023.

Out of the total arrests 49,558 suspects were taken in for drug offenses; the others were arrested for other criminal activities, the Ministry of Public Security announced.

The total value of confiscated properties of suspected criminals stands at approximately Rs 725 million, the ministry said.

The seized drugs have an estimated market value close to 7,733 million rupees, the ministry said.
