One of the gunmen responsible for multiple killings at Beliatte has escaped to Dubai

Ajith Indrasiri, one of the alleged gunmen in the shooting at Beliatta last week that left five persons dead, fled to Dubai the day after the multiple killings, investigators have uncovered.

Police said they had arrested Indrasiri’s wife and her father on Thursday (01). Indrasiri’s wife was also involved in the planning of the assassination, they alleged. They were arrested at Veyangoda.

The gunman is a 45-year-old former Navy officer. The gunman’s wife has confirmed that the five men had been killed on a contract given by Kosgoda Sujee, an underworld leader living in Dubai, and that the operation was coordinated by a man named Harsha, who also lives in Dubai.

Police have also found that a man named Nipuna, living in Dubai, has facilitated the suspect’s arrival there.Arrested suspects have also revealed information about the assassination of a former Pradeshiya Sabha member, Dulaj Tharanga on 17 June 2023, near Seenigama Devale.

Tharanga represented the UNP.

Two people, a 23-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, have been involved in Tharanga’s murder, and they, too, were arrested on Thursday, police said.They were arrested in Kiribathgoda along with around six grams of Ice.The police also arrested a 45-year-old man who had helped them evade the law.
