Now, CEB demands fuel subsidy from Treasury
By Ifham Nizam
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has projected a loss of Rs. 280 billion for next year and asked Treasury for a subsidy on fuel. A senior official told The Island that they did not want to burden the consumers with another tariff hike.
The official also said that there was no basis for Ven. Omalpe Sobitha Thera’s accusation that the CEB had not followed the instructions given by the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) to supply electricity to places of worship at subsidised rates.
