Northern politicians forcibly stop surveying of land at Mulliyan for navy
By Dinasena Ratugamage
A group of politicians from regional Tamil parties on Monday (24) obstructed officials from the Survey Department, at Mulliyan, Vadamarachchi, while they were surveying a one and a half acre land for the use of the navy.
A group led by politicians stopped the vehicle carrying the department officials and prevented them from surveying land.
The Tamil National People’s Front (TNPF) politicians led the group. The survey department officials returned to their office and informed this development to their senior officials.
However, the senior officials have not informed the police. The navy has asked the government for a one and half acre land to expand the navy camp in the area. The Jaffna district secretary and land commissioner has approved the navy’s request.
