No trains today and tomorrow

Passenger trains would not operate today and tomorrow, General Manager of the Railways Department, M.G.D. Fernando said yesterday.

The decision to suspend passenger train operations during the weekend had been taken in view of the pandemic, Fernando said. Earlier railway unions had warned that employees of the Railway Department were not provided with personal protective equipment and the health guidelines were not followed in transporting passengers.
