No response from India, China to Paris Cub beckoning them to help in Lanka’s debt talks

Neither India nor China have responded to Paris Club overtures to coordinate closely on Sri Lanka’s debt talks, Reuters reported yesterday.The Paris Club reached out to the two countries, who are among Sri Lanka’s biggest bilateral creditors, last month.Reuters added that Paris Club officials met Indian officials on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank.

Quoting an unnamed official, Reuters speculated that India and China might be at odds on which country should take the first step to work in close coordination with the Paris Club.Neither Beijing nor Delhi are members of the Paris Club.
