No private buses on April 13

There will be no private buses on the 13 April, President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association (LPBOA) Gemunu Wijeratne told The Island on Wednesday (10).He said that about 25 percent of private buses would operate on 14 April.Wijeratne said there would be fewer private buses on Friday as well.

The LPBOA President said that they will be charging 150 percent of the bus fare for the special buses they have deployed for the festive season.

The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) said 700 additional buses had been deployed from 10 to 17 April for those who are travelling during the festive season. They have estimated that about 1.3 million people will travel using public transport during the festive season.

The Railway Department has announced that two extra trains would operate from Colombo Fort to Badulla. Additionally, there will be one additional train departing for Beliatta from Maradana. Four extra trains will be in operation from Galle to Colombo Fort, until 17 April.
