New volume of Mahavamsa contains errors: SF

The Mahavamsa’s sixth volume contained distorted facts about the Eelam war, Gampaha District SJB MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka told Parliament yesterday.

Speaking during the third reading debate on Budget 2024 under the expenditure heads of the Defence Ministry, Fonseka said pages 339 to 411 about Eelam War IV contained factual errors.

The sixth volume of the Mahavamsa – The Great chronicle of Sri Lanka is said to have been written by a group of professors whose names are mentioned in introductory pages. They have consulted two retired generals, who were not involved in the Eelam War IV.
