New political alliance in the making

A new political alliance named Humanitarian People’s Alliance (Maanushika Janatha Sandanaya) would be established on the 20th March, former Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera told The Island on Thursday (14).

He said the alliance consisted of 18 political parties and civil society organisations.Jayasekera said a number of SLFP MPs would join the new alliance and there was room for left of the centre alternative in the country’s political space.
