The group Genesis have got themselves a new female vocalist – Karen de Silva, an R&B/Rock/Soul/Jazz singer.

She was to join the band in April, this year, but due to the pandemic she couldn’t make it, to Colombo, as she was in the Maldives, performing.

With Karen being added to their lineup, they now operate as Genesis with Karen.

Karen, in fact, is the daughter of Ray de Silva, a well-known figure in the local music industry, and her interest, in music, began when she was only a toddler.

She made her stage debut, at the age of 14.

Karen began her vocal training, with her father, and worked with several local bands.

Her assignment, in the Maldives, was at the Adaaran resort – December 2019/April 2020 – performing with a keyboardist.

The rest of the band members of Genesis are Chryshantha Fernando (keyboards), Ruwan Sabaratnam (lead guitar), Dilshan Jayatilleke (drums), Kevin Hingert (guitar), and Karen de Silva (lead vocals),

In addition to Karen, the rest of the members also share the vocal spotlight.
