New courts complex at Kotawila will be ready by March – Minister Ali Sabry

Minister of Justice Ali Sabry said that  the new courts complex under construction at Kotawila in Matara will be operative by the first week of March 2021.

The Minister, who inspected work on the complex on Wednesday (23), said all shortcomings have been addressed after discussing with the stakeholders.

Work on the new courts complex was initiated under the Deyata Kiruala program in 2014/ 2015.

With Kotawila being developed as the administrative center of the Matara district, the present courts complex situated within the Matara Fort is to be shifted to the new building.

State Minister Kanchana Wijesekera, Members of local government institutions, government officials and members of the Matara Bar Association accompanied the minister on the inspection tour.
