New Bill to combat domestic violence – State Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs

Women and Children’s Affairs State Minister Geetha Kumarasinghe at a  press briefing held at the Presidential Media Centre (PMC) on Tuesday (02), focusing on the theme “Collective Path to a Stable Country.”stated that the Cabinet has given approval for amending the existing Prevention of Domestic Violence Act and present a new bill to Parliament soon.

The State Minister said that plans are in progress to establish the National Commission for Women.
