New band in town…

Despite the hardships entertainers are experiencing, due to the pandemic, it’s heartening to see new outfits making their appearance in the local showbiz scene, and one such setup is the band Mystery Life.

This eight-piece outfit is based in Moratuwa, and specialises in the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s music.

And, the plus factor is that, in addition to their repertoire of Sinhala and English songs, they also oblige Hindi music lovers with their kind of music…and Tamil and Spanish songs, as well.

Mystery Life is led by Viraj Cooray, who has over 30 years’ experience in the music scene, both here and abroad.

He has performed with the bands Dynamites, Super Pink and Purple and Misty, and is the main vocalist, in the new setup, as well as their rhythm guitarist.

The other members of Mystery Life are Miran Fernando (ex-Subeams) keyboardist and vocalist with 37 years’ experience.

Sugath Sumeda (Super Pink and Purple and Channel Five), guitarist and vocalist, with 20 years’ experience, both here and abroad.

Dilash Attanayake, percussionist, with 10 years’ experience in the music scene.

Pramod Fernando (Ebony, Heart and Soul, and Corrine and Company), vocalist and drums, with 16 years’ experience.

Krishan Peiris (Super Pick and Purple and Golden Chimes), bass guitarist, with 20 years’ experience.

A former member of Sunbeams, Ina Steve functions as the manager, in addition to being the keyboardist, while Shavinka Fernando, plays a multiple role – vocalist, DJ and music composer

“We specialise in providing music for any occasion, including weddings, dinner dances, and company events,” said Cooray.
