Nethmika clears 5.98 metres to establish new record

Nethmika Madushani Herath of Nannapurawa MV, Moneragala produced one of the best performances on day one at the Junior National Championship at the Sugathadasa Stadium before the afternoon session was curtailed by the curfew imposed on Monday.

Competing in the Under 18 girls long jump, Nethmika Madushani cleared 5.98 metres to establish a new meet record.

Sri Lanka Athletics did not announce the official results.

In the Under 18 girls’ pole vault, Paranththaman Abishalini of Chavakachcheri Hindu College cleared 3.15 metres to establish a new record.

With the curfew imposed in the afternoon, Sri Lanka Athletics postponed the remaining events on day one and the next three days.
