Nestomalt powered All-Island School Games Marathon at Galle today

All Island School Games Marathon, the only road race available for school athletes in Sri Lanka will be held under the Nestomalt banner at Galle on Saturday (11).

Though the All-Island Schools Games concluded last month, the marathon is organized by the Ministry of Education as one of its annual Schools Games events. Through this fixture, the flagship brand of Nestlé intends to continue its journey of powering the progress of aspiring young athletes and providing a positive start to their sporting career. Over 300 runners representing all nine provinces will participate in a grueling 21 km race according to a communiqué issued by the organizers. Alongside the main event, a five-kilometer road race is conducted with a participation of 900 athletes.

The 21 km race is set to start from the Galle bus station at 6.30 am. It proceeds to take a turn near the Thalpe Beach bus stop towards the reverse direction of the same route and will continue towards the Galle International Cricket Stadium where the finishing line is stationed. The five km race will commence from the Galle bus station, then will take a turn near Kachchiwatta junction towards the reverse direction of the same route and will continue towards the finishing line stationed near Galle International Cricket Stadium.

Sadeepa Anusanka of Moaratu Vidyalaya was the winner of the School Games marathon when it was held last year. Peshalika Maduwanthi of Paanthiya Maha Vidyalaya was the winner of the girls’ category.
