Nesangi, Vishmi win Under 16 girls’ doubles title

Bishop’s College player Nesangi Hemakumara and Vishmi Serasinghe of Ave Maria Convent, Negombo won the Under 16 girls’ doubles title of the Tennis Nationals 2021 at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts on Monday.
The duo beat Dinara de Silva and Saajida Razick 6-3, 7-5 in the final. They had only the semi-final hurdle to clear to reach the final as they received a bye in the quarter-final of the five-team competition.
They beat Senulya Wijayawardane and Binudi Wijayawardane 6-4, 6-3 in the semis.
Dinara de Silva and Saajida Razick also had only one hurdle to clear to reach the final. They beat Inuki Jayaweera and Melasha Randini 6-3, 6-2 in the quarter-final before receiving a walkover in the semis.
