Navy seizes 72,000 illegally transported sea cucumber stock

The Navy on Sunday (12) took into custody two persons, along with
over 72,000 sea cucumbers, at Irukkulampiddi, Mannar.

The detection was made by the personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command; they intercepted a pickup truck transporting a large stock of sea cucumbers illegally.

The operation was conducted in compliance with COVID-19 protocol. The suspects were identified as residents of Chavakachcheri and Mannar. They along with the stock of sea cucumbers and the vehicle were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Mannar, for legal action.
