Navy nets nine for illegal fishing in northern seas

The Sri Lanka Navy in the early hours of Tuesday (30) took into custody nine persons with unauthorised fishing gear and 05 dinghies illegal fishing activities off Chundikulam, Chalai, and Nagar Kovil in Vettalaikerni

The suspects were identified as residents of Mulliyan, Pudumathalan, Mullaitivu, Mulliwaikkal, Pudukudiirippu, Mannar and Mamunai. The nine individuals along with five dinghies and unauthorised fishing gear and sea cucumber were handed over to the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Jaffna for legal action.
