Navy nabs two persons, 1471kg Tendu leaves in Kalpitiya

A special search operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy in the sea area of Baththalangunduwa, Kalpitiya on Saturday (19th February 2024) led to the apprehension of two suspects attempting to smuggle in about 1471kg (wet weight) of Tendu leaves by a dinghy.

The two suspects along with the seized stock of Tendu leaves and the dinghy were to be handed over to the Customs Preventive Office in Katunayake for onward legal action.
