Navy intercepts dinghy with haul of Kerala cannabis
The Navy intercepted a suspicious dinghy off Kankesanthurai, Jaffna on Sunday, and a search led to the arrest of two persons and the recovery of over 428 kilos of Kerala cannabis.
The suspects and the stock of narcotics were brought to the Kankesanthurai harbour, where Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera was present yesterday (03) morning.
During the operation, the Navy took into custody 195 packs of Kerala cannabis weighing about 428 kg and 900 g.
The gross street value of the apprehended stock of Kerala cannabis is believed to be over Rs. 141 million.
The suspects held in this operation were identified as residents of the Analathivu Island, aged 33 and 37.
The suspects along with Kerala cannabis and the dinghy were handed over to the Kankesanthurai Police for legal action.
