Navy detains Indian trawler poaching in Delft sea area

The Sri Lanka Navy on Tuesday (20) detained an Indian trawler together with nine Indian fisherman poaching in the sea area off Urimunai of the Delft Island, Jaffna.

It was revealed that the trawler was in the sea area as it had developed a mechanical failure due to sea water seeping in to its engine.  The trawler along with the nine Indian fishermen was handed over to the Delft Police for onward legal proceedings.
