Navy detain two trawlers poaching in Sri Lankan waters

The Sri Lanka Navy conducted a special operation to chase away Indian trawlers from Sri Lankan waters on the night of 22nd January 2024.

The operation resulted in the detention of two (02) Indian trawlers and six (06)  Indian nationals poaching in Sri Lankan waters north of the Delft Island, Jaffna.The trawlers and fishermen were brought to the Kankasanthurai Harbour and were to be handed over to the Mailadi Fisheries Inspector for onward legal action.
