Navy detain Indian trawler poaching in Sri Lankan waters

The Sri Lanka Navy conducted a special operation to chase away Indian trawlers from Sri Lankan waters on Wednesday (13th December 2023). The operation led to the seizure of an Indian trawler with six Indian fishermen  who were poaching in Sri Lankan waters off the Kovilan Lighthouse, Kareinagar.

The six Indian fishermen and the trawler were brought to the Kankasanthurai harbour and were to be handed over to the Mailadi Fisheries Inspector for onward legal action.
