National anointing ceremony on April 15 at Hendala Purana Rajamaha Viharaya – State Minister of Indigenous Medicine

State Minister of Indigenous Medicine, Sisira Jayakody, announced that the National Anointing Ceremony (Hisa Thel Gama), a significant auspicious ceremony during the Sinhala and Hindu New Year festivities, is scheduled to take place on April 15, 2024 at 10.17 a.m. The event will be held at the Hendala Purana Raja Maha Viharaya, Wattala.

The State Minister also announced that the last auspicious ritual of the Sinhala and Hindu New Year festivities, tree planting, is set for April 18 and it has been designated as ‘Moringa (Murunga) Day’ by the Indigenous Medicine Ministry.

The announcements were made at a press briefing held at the President Media Centre (PMC) on Thursday (04).
