National Agricultural Policy final draft to Parliament next week for approval

The final draft of the National Agricultural Policy will be submitted to Parliament for approval next week.

The final draft was endorsed by a team of experts comprising Senior Professor Buddhi Marambe, Professor Udith Jayasinghe, Professor Palitha Weerakkody, Professor M.B. Ratnathilaka, Dr. B.V.R Punyawardena, Dr. D. Kuruppuarachchi, as well as former Director Generals of Agriculture, Dr. Ajanta de Silva and Dr. W. M. M Weerakoon.

Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that the views and suggestions of the members of Parliament had been presented in the new National Agricultural Policy.

Secretary to the Ministry, Gunadasa Samarasinghe, is in the process of further fine tuning the new policy.
