National Action Plan for the Mitigation of Human-Elephant Conflict must be discussed further – Minister of Wildlife, Forest Resources Conservation and Irrigation

Minister of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation and Irrigation, Pavithra Wanniarachchi participating in the news conference ‘Collective Path to a stable country’ held at the Presidential Media Centre on Wednesday (20) said the National Action Plan for the Mitigation of Human-Elephant Conflict drawn up by the presidential Committee appointed on 22nd July 2020  headed by Dr Prithiviraj Fernando needs to be studied further even though President Ranil Wickremesinghe ordered its implementation an year ago.

In October 2022, President Ranil Wickremesinghe appointed a Presidential Committee, headed by former Director General of Wildlife Conservation, Dr. Sumith Pilapitiya to monitor the progress of the implementation of the National Action Plan for Human-Elephant Conflict Mitigation.
