Narcotics valued at over Rs. 3798 million found in multi-day trawler intercepted on Friday (12)

The multi-day fishing trawler intercepted off the Southern coast was brought to the Galle harbour by the Navy (Navy Media)

The Sri Lanka Navy media has reported that approximately 179kg and 906g of crystal methamphetamine (Ice) and about 83kg and 582g of heroin (with their packages) has been detected in the local multi-day fishing trawler intercepted  by the Sri Lanka Navy about 133 nautical miles (246 km) off Dondra on 12th April 2024.

The consignment of narcotics said to have a street value of more than Rs. 3798 million, along with the 06 crew members and the multi-day fishing trawler was handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) for onward legal action.

Including the recent detection, the Sri Lanka Navy has held drugs with a gross street value of over Rs. 9300 million during operations mounted in 2024.
