Murder-suicide at Arugam Bay guest house leaves couple dead

The police yesterday found, in a guest house in Arugam Bay, the body of a person who had hanged himself after killing his mistress.

The couple had been staying in at the guest house. On Tuesday (12), the manager of the guest house informed officers at the Arugam Bay Police Post that the guests were not answering the door. The police then forcibly entered the room and found the woman in a pool of blood, while the man was hanging inside the bathroom.

The deceased woman was a 35-year-old resident of Mahakalugolla and the man was a 51-year-old resident of Pottuvil, police said.

Pottuvil Police are conducting further investigations.
