MP Kavinda asks Public Security Minister why disgraced former SIS Chief put in charge of police administration

SJB Gampaha District MP Dr. Kavinda Jayawardena has asked Public Security Minister Tiran Alles to inform the House of the factors that led to appoint former SIS (State Intelligence Service) chief SDIG Nilantha Jayawardena to the post of Head of Police Administration Division despite the conduct of the SIDG in relation to the Easter Sunday attacks, according to the latest Addendum to the Order Book of Parliament.

Dr. Jayawardena has also asked Minister Alles to inform the House of the observations and recommendations made SDIG Jayawardena in the report of the Presidential Commission appointed to investigate the Easter Sunday terror attacks.

The MP in his question calls on Minister Alles to inform the House of the date on which SDIG Jayawardena had been appointed to head the Police Administration Division, the date on which he was nominated for that position and the names of individuals and institutions that recommended him.Parliamentarian Jayawardena is also asking the Minister to inform the House whether the latter would reconsider the appointment and if not why.
