Home Alone (1990) and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)
Christmas is never complete without watching the ‘Home Alone’ franchise. The first installment was directed by Chris Columbus, and was written and produced by John Hughes. The film stars Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, John Heard, and Catherine O’Hara. The plot follows an eight-year old Kevin McCallister, who gets left behind accidentally by his family, who then has to defend his home from two burglars Harry and Marv. The focus is on Christmas but watching Kevin thwart the plans of the two thieves who plan to rob his home, never gets old.
The sequel ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,’ is the only Home Alone sequel to have most of the original cast reprising their roles. Once again written and produced by John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus, the second film follows a 10 year-old Kevin, who accidentally takes a different plane and ends up in New York, all alone. Harry and Marv, now comically named the ‘Wet Bandits’ have escaped and arrive in New York as well. Kevin must fend off the two once again and reunite with his family.
