Motorcyclist flees amidst police fire

A motorcyclist and pillion rider escaped in spite of being shot at by a police commando deployed at a roadblock near the Megoda-Kelaniya bridge, in the Mulleriyawa police area, on the evenung of 01 Sept. Police said that the rider had ignored the police signal to stop at the checkpoint. Having noticed the pillion rider pulling out a weapon, believed to be a pistol, the commando fired at him. Police are conducting investigations.
