Most children admitted to LRH since pandemic are underweight

Most children, admitted to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH), since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, are underweight, Dr. Deepal Perera says.

Dr. Perera said: “This can be due to financial difficulties as well as parents’ lack of awareness of nutrition. We need to understand what’s happening and take immediate steps. When children do not receive adequate nutrition, in the formative years, many problems could occur later in life,” he said.
