More than 5,600 motorcyclists killed during last five years

More than 5,600 motorcyclists had been killed due to road accidents during the last five years, the Ministry of Transport said yesterday (15).

“About 5,677 motorcyclists died in road accidents; 4, 221 pedestrians and 1,185 cyclists have also died in road mishaps,” the Ministry said.

The main reasons for motorcyclists’ deaths were not wearing protective equipment, speeding and riding under the influence of liquor.

The Ministry yesterday launched an initiative to reduce road accidents.
