More Japanese funding for post-war projects in North
Japanese Ambassador Mizukoshi Hideaki on Monday (March 11) signed grant contracts with A.N. Manuneethy, President of the Moolai Cooperative Hospital, and V. Ketheeswaran, President of the Livestock Breeders’ Cooperative Society (LIBCO).
According to a statement issued by the Japanese Embassy, USD 103,924 (approx. Rs. 32 mn) has been provided for these two projects for improving medical and dairy facilities in the Northern Province.
The development of the conflict-affected areas is one of the priority areas of Japan’s official development assistance policy to Sri Lanka. The Government of Japan has been supporting the peace-building and reconciliation process in the country, especially in the Northern Province, through various forms of assistance, the Embassy said.
