More gas explosions

A number of gas explosions have been reported in the 24 hours that ended at 6 am yesterday (22) from areas such as Hatton, Hambantota, Panadura and Ella.

Since November 2021 around 900 gas-related explosions have taken place.

A committee was appointed by the President, on 30 November, to look into those incidents.

On Tuesday, Prof. Shantha Walpolage, the Chairman of the Committee, said they had concluded that the change in the composition of gas was the primary reason for the recent gas-related explosions.
