Moratuwa wins Inter-University basketball championship

University of Moratuwa won the Inter-University basketball competition beating Sabaragamuwa University in the finals worked off at St. Michael’s College courts in Batticaloa. University of Ruhuna finished third.

The tournament was held from 2nd to 5th September at St. Michael’s courts and MIANI courts.

Moratuwa were the defending champions and in recent times they have enjoyed a high wave of success winning five titles. Five of the players of Moratuwa University side are first year students. .

The winning team was coached by Sriyantha Jayaweera while Minidu Fonseka functioned as his deputy. Moratuwa University were well led by Rukshan Athapaththu and Gimhan Ravishanka was the vice-captain. Happening Ice Tea were the title sponsor while Azend Tech, LTL were  Platinum Sponsor and Creative Software was the Gold Sponsor.
