Moneylender shot dead

A 31-year-old usurer was shot dead at Pitigala, in the Galle district, on Saturday (3) night.He had been shot near Thalgaswala in Pitigala while he was returning home on a motorcycle.

The victim was admitted to the Elpitiya hospital with gunshot wounds and later transferred to the Karapitiya general hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.Police described the victim as a money lender and that they believed the murder has been committed due to a money-related dispute.Pitigala Police are conducting further investigations to apprehend the suspects.
