Mobile phones found buried in prison

Nineteen mobile phones were found during a special raid at the Colombo Remand Prison yesterday.The Commissioner General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya said the mobile phones had been found buried within the prison premises.

Nineteen mobile phones had been buried in two places near the Ward No 01, where inmates connected to drug offences and criminal offences are kept.

Upuldeniya said that further investigations were underway and security in the prison had been tightened with the deployment of STF commandos deployed around the prisons.
