New Home Affairs Secy appointed

Public Administration, Home Affairs and Local Government Ministry Secretary Neil Bandara Hapuhinna has been succeeded by Ranjith Asoka recently.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe replaced Hapuhinna in the wake of SJB mayoral candidate for the Colombo Municipal Council Mujibur Rahaman, moving High Court against the Ministry Secretary, who made an abortive bid to prevent Divisional Secretaries from accepting deposits for local government elections. Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, who also holds the Public Administration, Home Affairs and Local Government portfolio, was present when the new ministry secretary assumed duties. State Ministers Janaka Wakkubura and Ashoka Priyanha were also present.
