Minister Pavithra orders officials to prepare electricity tariff hike proposals

Power Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi on Wednesday (16) instructed Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to prepare proposals for an increase in electricity tariffs.

The Minister instructed officials to provide concessions to people who use between 30 and 60 units of electricity per month.

The Minister gave these instructions during a meeting at the Power Ministry with the participation of its Secretary and other senior officials.

The CEB officials said that they would formulate two proposals and hand them over to the Minister by Friday (18). The Minister in turn would present those proposals to the Cabinet for approval for the most suitable one.
