Milinda next SL envoy to India

One-time minister and political commentator Milinda Moragoda would be appointed as the country’s High Commissioner to New Delhi later this year, well informed sources told The Island yesterday.

 Moragoda, founder of Pathfinder organisation, would receive a Cabinet rank in his proposed capacity as Sri Lanka’s top envoy in New Delhi. Moragoda served in Ranil Wickremesinghe’s Cabinet from 2002 to 2004.

 Sources said that the appointment was meant to enhance relations with India at a time of continuing controversy over Sri Lanka getting too close to China. (SF)
