My Cola Beverages joins as platinum sponsor

The ‘A’ Division finalists of the Mercantile Basketball Tournament will be known today when Commercial Credit, Sri Lankan Airline, Fairfirst Insurance and Dialog Axiata vie for honours in the semi finals at the Royal College Indoor Sports Complex in Colombo. While Commercial Credit take on Sri Lankan Airline in the first semi-final at 5.30 pm, Fairfirst Insurance meet Dialog Axiata in the second at 7.00pm.

After the resounding success of the Mercantile Services Basketball Association (MSBA) tournaments from 2015 to 2020, the MSBA had to put all events on hold during the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the downturn in the economy. But sports being an important pillar in lives of their sportsmen, the MSBA is hosting its biggest tournament for 2022, which commenced on September 12. All the games are being played at the Royal College Indoor Sports Complex this year, which is the first time that MSBA is hosting all its games indoors to improve the standards of the tournament. There are 31 mercantile firms taking part in this edition, which has a total of 75 matches.

My Cola Beverages (Pvt) Ltd, has come forward to be the Platinum Partner at the later part of the tournament. Head of HR and Admin of the company, Dayan Fernando handed over the sponsorship cheque to the President of MSBA, Brawin Fernando. My Cola Beverages is the Official Carbonated Beverages Partner of the Sri Lanka Cricket as well. The company’s aim is to support the true spirit of sports in Sri Lanka. Keeping that aim in the mind, Executive Director / CEO of the company Sharm Ferando (Attorney-At-Law) extended their hand to MSBA this year. My Cola Beverages manufactures not only carbonated drinks, but also drinking water under the brands of ‘Cristal’ and ‘Life’.

The finalists of the Division ‘B’ tournament were to be decided in the evening yesterday (10). The semi-finals of the ‘B’ Division between Akbar Brothers and Union Bank and John Keells Holdings and HNB were scheduled for yesterday. The finals of both divisions will be played on Saturday (12) from 6:00 pm onwards.
