The Golden Heartians’ Club (past pupils of Sacred Heard Convent, Galle) hosted a grand reunion entitled ‘Melodiesand Memories’ at the Balmoral Ballroom of the Kingsbury hotel recently, bringing together alumnae of Sacred Heart Convent, Galle.

The event, a high tea reunion, proved to be a tremendous success, with alumnae and guests treated to a captivating fashion show featuring collections from Sandy and Innovation. Sandy’s collection showcased evening wear of effortless chic crafted from silk and satin, along with hand-painted exquisite sarees, while Innovation presented a range of casual wear, including an elegant all-white collection.

Roshanara de Silva, a renowned model from her era and an alumna of Sacred Heart Convent, took charge of choreographing the fashion show. The models’ hair and makeup were expertly handled by Ramzi Rahaman, and the models were under the tutelage of Rozanne Dias’ school of modelling. Adding musical enchantment to the evening, the guest artist Ama Jayasinghe delighted the audience with her performance, accompanied by the live band ‘Legendsz’ in attendance.

Chef Sajid curated a high tea spread that was refreshingly fresh and scrumptious, featuring a wide selection of hot savouries, delectable sandwiches, and delicious sweets and cakes, ensuring there was something to satisfy every palate.

Furthermore, part of the proceeds from the fundraiser will be allocated to support an earmarked oncology ward and contribute to the ongoing development programs of the Alma Mater.

Sacred Heart Convent, Galle was established in1896 by the Sisters of Charity from Belgium and this gesture of charity reflects the enduring spirit of the Sacred Heart Convent community, committed to both honouring its past and investing in a brighter future.
