Medhani, Kodikara replace Amasha and Rajakaruna for Asian Relays

Sprinters Medhani Jayamanne and Pasindu Kodikara have been included in the women’s 4×100 metres and men’s 4×400 metres teams respectively after Amasha de Silva and Rajitha Rajakaruna pulled out from the teams picked for the Asian Relays which will be held later this month in Thailand.
Sri Lanka Athletics has picked seven athletes who have clocked sub 47 seconds in the 400 metres for the men’s 4×400 metres and the 4×400 metres mixed relay. Rajitha Rajakaruna who was a key member of the gold winning Asian Championship relay team last year has informed Sri Lanka Athletics of his inability to participate in the regional event due to personal reasons.
Amasha de Silva has withdrawn due to an injury.
The men’s 4×400 metres team picked by Sri Lanka Athletics include Aruna Dharshana, Kalinga Kumarage, Dinuka Deshan, Harsha Karunaratne, Pasindu Kodikara and Pabasara Niku. Isuru Lakshan is picked in the mixed relay team.
The women’s 4×400 metres team include Tharushi Karunaratne, Nadeesha Ramanayake, Sayuri Lakshima Mendis, Rumshika Ratnayake, Nishendra Fernando and Safia Yamic.
The men’s and women’s 4×400 metres teams are given below.
Men’s 4×100 metres team: Chamod Yodasinghe, Dineth Induwara, Chanuka Dharmakeerthi, Kavindu Chathuranga, Deneth Senanayake and C.P.H. Gamlath.
Women’s 4×100 metres team: Safia Yamic, Dinara Dela Bandara, Anuruddhika Muthukumarana, Dilushani Silva, Rumeshika Ratnayake and Medhani Jayamanne.
