MBA Open Badminton Championships from Sunday

The Mercantile Badminton Association (MBA) Open Badminton Championships which is recognized as a level one tournament by the Sri Lanka Badminton Association (SLBA) will be held from October 23 to 28 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. MBA will be organizing this tournament for the first time jointly with SLBA. Tournament will see events conducted under 66 categories, including open men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles as well as age group events from under 13 and above. The tournament will also feature a Family Mix event to build the family atmosphere among badminton lovers.

All these events will contribute towards the national rankings and will be based on SLBA Rankings published on the official web portal of the badminton governing body. The shuttlecocks to be used during the matches will be Li Ning, the official partner of the event. The championship will be conducted on a knock-out basis and all matches will be played according to the rules and regulations approved by the BWF and as adopted by SLBA.

The draw will be published today at the SLBA headquarters at 11.00 am and will be available on the MBA facebook page, the website www.mba.lk, SLBA notice board, the website www.srilankabadminton.lk and on facebook.
