Mayanka to meet Saha in the Under 14 final 

HNB-Clay Court Championship 2022 

S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia player Mayanka Perera will meet Saha Kapilasena of Elezabeth Moir School in the Under 14 boys’ singles final after they won their semi-finals of the HNB Clay Court Championship continued at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts on Sunday.

Perera edged out Abdul Cader 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-3 in the semi-final, while Kapilasena beat Kenuka Geeganage 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in his encounter to secure the final berth in a tournament where the top seeds, (Louis Knese -1 and Ganuka Fernando -2) got eliminated before the semi-final stage.

In the Under 14 girls’ singles, number two seed Gehansa Methnadi of Musaeus College and Bishops College player Kaela de Zoysa are the finalists. In the semi-finals played on Saturday Kaela de Zoysa beat Oneli de Silva 6-1, 6-1 and Gehansa Methnadi beat Yasita Warnakulasuriya  7-5, 6-2.

Vishmi, Zaidh win Under 18 girls’ and boys’ titles

Meanwhile, Ave Maria Convent, Negombo player Vishmi Serasinghe and Zaidh Zihar of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia clinched the Under 18 girls’ and boys’ tennis titles respectively on Saturday.

While Zihar beat Apna Perera 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the boys’ final, Serasinghe beat Ruvi Lewkbandara 7-6, 2-6, 6-1 in the girls’ final.
