Maris Stella shine at Relay Carnival after several years

Maris Stella College, Negombo returned to winning ways after a lapse of several years to clinch an overall boys’ title in an athletics event when they won the boys’ championship of the Schools Relay Carnival recently.

Maris Stella bagged the gold medals in sprint relays to beat their closest rivals Trinity by 35 points.

The Under 16 relay quartet of Sesath Ranthisa, Dilanka Devinda, Dineth Sandeepana and Sahas Fonseka won Maris Stella the 4×400 metres relay. Their Under 16 teams were also the winners of the 4x100m and 4×200 metres and medley relays.

Arosh Shakya, Tishan Nethmina, Chanuka Vithana and Mark Roshen combined to clinch the gold in the Under 18 boys’ 4×400 metres relay. They also won the 4x200m and medley relays.
