Mano receives assurance from WB
World Bank Country Director here Faris Hadas Zervos has assured Tamil Progressive Alliance leader Mano Ganesan, MP, that WB would proceed with the ‘Asvesuma’ welfare benefits scheme with fair opportunities to the marginalised plantation families.
MP Ganesan told the media that WB country director at their Colombo office said they mutually agreed to meet again for more official discussion to make that Plantation sector is not left out.
Ganesan said: “We brought the severe poverty and food insecurity realities in plantations in the districts from Nuwara Eliya to Avissawella in Colombo including Badulla, Kandy, Matale, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kalutara, Kurunegala, Galle, Matara and Moneragala to the notice of the World Bank.”
Mano Ganesan led his team with TPA’s N’Eliya MP Udaya Kumar, Kandy MP Velu Kumar and Hill Country civil activist Goutham Balachandran.
