Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has directed the Urban Development Authority (UDA) to hand over the Piliyandala bus stand to the Kesbewa Municipal Council. The Minister directed that the Kesbewa MC manage the bus terminal complex, built at a cost of Rs 235 mn, whereas the SLTB runs the services.

A spokesperson for the Ministry told The Island that Minister Ranatunga issued instructions in this regard, at a meeting at the UDA auditorium, following complaints received from Colombo District SLPP MP Gamini Lokuge and Kesbewa MC Chairman Lakshman Perera that the SLTB neglected the newly built bus terminal. They pointed out that the SLTB’s failure greatly inconvenienced the public. (SF)
